RESTAURANTS: There are so many restaurants in the area but here is a few of our favorites.
BIG BOPPERS: Only a short walk from the cottages offering a great breakfast and the best burgers around. website
WALDO PEPPERS: 5 minute drive, our go to place for steaks and such. website
CLEATS: Less than a mile away, right on the water. Go by boat if you like. Great outdoor area, good bar food, perfect place to watch the game. website
NETTY’S: Their famous chili dogs are a local tradition. Hot Dogs and Cold Ice Cream. East on 163 for 2 miles or so. website
CANOE CLUB: Small upscale wine bar just down the road. website
MON AMI WINERY: 10 minute drive. Beautiful restaurant, large bar, excellent seafood buffet on Saturdays, and of course good local wine. website
NAGOYA: Japanese Steakhouse, great food, lots of fun, on 163 just east of 53. website
DOCKERS: Great waterfront dining with beautiful views. Located in the Portside Marina on Kelleys Island. If going by boat, head for the water tower on the south side of island, channel 68. Free dockage on sun – thurs evening if you dine there. website
WEST BAY INN: On Kelleys Island great outdoor Tiki Bar, beautiful sunset view. If going by boat dockage if free but limited to 25 or so slips. Located on the west side of the island on the north side of the large gravel barge dock. No dock hands. website
THE KEYS: Put in Bay. Located next to the Jet Express Dock. Great frozen drinks and the Best Cuban Sandwich. website
ISLAND FERRY SERVICES
REEF BOBBER SUNSET CRUISES: Take a private boat right from our dock at the cottages to Kelleys Island. Read more on our pleasure cruise page.
GOODTIME ISLAND HOPPING CRUISE: Island Hopping and Party Cruises out of Sandusky. Passenger only and bar on the boat. website
JET EXPRESS: From Port Clinton and Sandusky, to Kelleys Island and Downtown Put in Bay. Passenger only. website
MILLER FERRY: From Catawba to Put in Bay, the most economical way to PIB. Passenger and automobiles. Once you get off ferry there is a walk up a hill then either rent golf cart or jump on an island taxi to downtown. Almost every time we go to PIB we use this ferry. website
KELLEYS ISLAND FERRY: Auto and passenger. Once off the boat its a 10 minute walk to downtown. Golf cart rentals at the dock. website
THINGS TO DO: Although there are many other things to do this is a list approved by us or recommended by our guests.
EAST HARBOR STATE PARK AND BEACH: Probably our favorite thing to do. Beautiful beaches less than 2 miles away. Waterslide for the kids, gently slopping beach with protective breakwalls, bathrooms, wildlife trails, and picnic areas. There are parking spots to drive right on top of the breakwall and enjoy the view of the lake, sunset, or a storm rolling in. Boasts the areas only boaters beach, anchor off the beach and enjoy the day. Less than a mile boat ride from our dock. website
CEDAR POINT: The Roller Coaster Capitol of the World. website
MARBLEHEAD LIGHTHOUSE: One of Lake Erie's best known and most-photographed landmarks! website
KELLEYS ISLAND: Family friendly island with plenty of evening activities for the adults. Rent a golf cart and take a ride around the island. website
PUT IN BAY / SOUTH BASS ISLAND: During the day go to Perrys Monument and take a ride to the top, it offers panoramic views for miles. Lots of history on the island, take a tour or go to the museum. Once the sun goes down the islands many bars light up with live music and dancing. website
LAKESIDE: Lakeside Chautauqua is a historic community in Ohio that offers an abundance of spiritual opportunities, educational lectures, cultural arts performances and recreational activities. website
AFRICAN SAFARI WILDLIFE PARK: drive and walk through safaris, we love going every summer. website
MONSOON LAGOON: Go carts, bumper boats, kids water park, plus an adult only pool with swim up bar. website
JOHNSONS ISLAND: CONFEDERATE SOLDIERS MEMORIAL: Memorials that commemorate the Confederate Soldiers that died there while being held captive in the prisoner of war camp. Erie but interesting. $2 toll on bridge. website
CAMP PERRY: Home of the National Matches. For over a century marksman have been shooting rifles and pistols for national titles. website
BARK UNTIL DARK DOG PARK: Even though we have plenty of room to walk your dog its always nice to let them off the leash and run. On Rt 269 across from Police Dept. website
BIGGEST WEEK IN AMERICAN BIRDING: We are only a half hour from Magee Marsh but there are great opportunities to catch a glimpse of migrating birds right on the property and off of our dock. East Harbor State Park and Meadowbrook Marsh are a few minutes away, also offering excellent opportunities to view our feathered friends. website
LAKE ERIE SHORES AND ISLANDS VISITOR CENTER: Great place for local info. On Rt 53 between Rt 2 and Rt 163. website
